NERO FIDDLES WHILE
On March 13, 2013, the Wyandanch Board Of Education held a Combined Work/Voting Session Meeting at the Central Administration Building on Straight Path at 7pm. The Session lasted until 11:30pm. That’s when Citizens were evicted so the Magnificent 7 could go into EXECUTIVE SESSION.
Executive Session is where all the “good stuff” is done – out of the view or hearing of Citizens.
Bishop – err President Michael V. Talbert is getting very clever at putting on a “Really Big Show” (as Ed Sullivan used to say), then kicking Witnesses out so the Board can do what they don’t want us to see, hear or know about.
We were entertained by at least 2-hours of Charley Reed, Elder Sexton and Talbert bickering over whether or not several teachers were entitled to Pay for their Maternity Leaves. This part of the “Show” is done to convince attendees that the Magnificent 7 are really watching out for Wyandanch, its students and your Tax Dollar$. I was NOT impressed.
I must admit I was impressed with Talbert’s Q&A and overall knowledge of Agenda items until I found out that his better half (the one with the brain), wife Gina Talbert told Nero before the Meeting what questions to ask and what issues to contest. I must give him credit though, when you are blessed with the IQ of a cabbage, you’d better marry a woman with brains! (Sorry, Shirley!)
We were treated to an hour and a half of merriment, featuring a talented female student, who danced in tights and bare feet (guess ballet slippers are not in the budget) to her pre-recorded rendition of her own poetry. This was the highlight of the trip by several female students to Monmouth University in New Jersey, replete with a PowerPoint presentation of their visit.
This author has no problem with students being exposed to college campuses and inspired to work so they too can enjoy higher education. The problem is these students should be exposed to REAL EDUCATION in their Wyandanch Public Schools !
Let’s see what Talbert’s Statistics have to tell us!
Those % Figures represent the percent that passed, even with the lowest possible passing grade. So if 21% passed, that means 79% failed! 79% couldn’t even achieve a D-! An increase of +8% is insignificant at these FAILURE LEVELS!
If you folks don’t begin voting this May 21st and get rid of both Talbert and Sexton, this Board will continue to focus on Patronage, Nepotism and the “Really Big Show” while ignoring the EDUCATION OF WYANDANCH STUDENTS!
If you watched TV news today, March 19th, you probably saw Assistant Principal, Craig Cohen, being escorted off to jail in handcuffs for sexting lewd messages to other School staffers and at least one female student, who is 16 years old. I know that feature on CBS Evening News brought out your pride for Wyandanch and its public school system! What do you say when someone asks you, “Where do you live?”
Add to that the beating of a high school male student by the grandson of former Board President, Shirley Baker, the recent police call about the white Wyandanch gym teacher when crystal meth fell out of his cell phone, which he forgot when he left school, and you have a good idea of how Wyandanch should be the locale if they ever remake ‘Peyton Place’.
And still the Band Plays On!
The BOARD RETREAT was not voted on at the March 13th meeting. It will either be redacted entirely or voted on tomorrow, March 20, 2013. This will be strictly a Work Session. Please make your presence known by showing up at 7pm in the Central Administration Building on Straight Path. Perhaps we can embarrass these PartyGoers into foregoing their Bacchanalia.
